Gorman Field UAS Test Range Resources

The 33-acre Gorman Field UAS Test Range has everything your organization needs for safe UAS flights. Available indoor facilities accessible with customizable security access means your aircraft are secure when you're not on-site.

Our facility includes:

  • Personalized access for 24/7/365 airspace availability
  • Launch and recovery space
    Gorman Field UAS Test Range includes a launch pad with power and fiber internet for your VTOL or catapult launched aircraft; also included is a mowed grass 300' aerodrome for launch and recovery of fixed-gear aircraft
  • Bathroom access
    Available for any organization who commits to field access
  • Shareable office space
    Secure and climate-controlled office space for up to 3 people to share
  • Dedicated interior workspace
    Minimum 10'x20' indoor hangar space dedicated to your team and aircraft
  • Shareable indoor workspace
    Workspace with workbenches available daily on a first-come basis

UND Aerospace UAS Services

UND Aerospace has extensive experience testing UAS and training UAS pilots. Leverage our expertise to help your organization succeed.

Services available at the Gorman Field UAS Test Range include:

  • COA application completion and submission
    Working with the UAS Test Site, UND Aerospace personnel can help with authoring documentation and submission to the FAA
  • Air Traffic Management coordination
    Coordination with Air Traffic Management at both KGFK and KRDR pre-flight for operational knowledge and awareness
  • On-site radio communications and monitoring
    Ensure there are no traffic conflicts with regional manned air traffic and approach control during flight; UND Aerospace personnel have the appropriate US FCC licensure
  • Support for the assurance of safe operations
  • Assistance with FAA reporting requirements
    As needed
  • NOTAM filing for specific operations
    Not required for part 107 operations, but will help let other users outside of UND and GFAFB know there are ongoing operations
  • Personnel
    UND Aerospace has a cadre of pilots available to help with your operation; from Part 107 to CFII, we have local resources should you need human capital
